A beautiful forest-themed ceramic urn made in the traditional Japanese ceramic process of Raku firing. This urn is impressed with plants and trees of the forest and covered with a crackle glaze then Raku fired, leaving the bits of forestry embedded into the urn, giving it a one-of-a-kind look and feel. A wonderful memorial for the outdoors person.
In Raku firing each piece of pottery is taken from the kiln red hot, the molten glaze silken and glowing. Then it is placed in a bed of straw or leaves in an air-tight container. The dry plant material immediately bursts into flame and the “reduction chamber” is sealed. The flame and the smoking, oxygen-starved atmosphere transform the glaze surface, creating raku's unique, seemingly ancient colors and textures. Thus, each of our one-of-a-kind Raku-fired funeral urns are unique in the particulars of the design and glaze finish.
These ceramic urns are generally made-to-order, please allow some time for your urn to be handcrafted and shipped. Often, we can finish and deliver sooner, but if you need the urn by a specific date, please contact us, and we will attempt to make the necessary arrangements. Please note that each urn is uniquely handmade using natural materials, so each piece will be unique and may vary from the picture.
Notes
**Colors and finish vary considerably.** While the shape of the urn and any design will be the same as what you see pictured above, the actual patterns of coloration on the urn's surface will be unique to each piece, making it a one-of-a-kind memorial.
